Lila had passed the toy store a dozen times and paid it little mind. For one thing, the display window was glaringly colorful. For another, it was obvious; she wasn't a child and she didn't even know any children. However, today as she walked by she was stopped in her tracks by a small flying vehicle buzzing around above her head. The shop worker lingering in the doorway showed her how he was directing it with a controller, he called it. He showed her how to work the little levers and buttons, but she nearly crashed it. It was only with a bit of air magic that she stopped it from smashing into the cement.

After she discovered that the toy store held such wonders, she found herself browsing the shelves for more.

Which is, ultimately, how she currently finds herself at Kell's apartment window. She can feel him nearby with that strange tugging in her chest, which means he must be inside. With a lot of concentration and patience she uses her magic to open his window and screen, trying to be discreet to have the element of surprise. Once lifted high enough, she climbs up the sill to peek inside, her toy store purchase hidden behind her back.
